Organizations We Work With

Community Social Services (formally St. Barts) is an organization based inWaukegan that is dedicated to providing services to needy people in the area. We are most involved with their soup  kitchen which operates 4 nights per week. They also provide clothing and furniture as well as an overnight facility which provides temporary shelter to families and adults.

Fellowship Housing Corporation is a faith-based organization that serves single mothers and the children by providing affordable housing and intensive mentoring. Their goal is guide these families to long term stability. For more information see http://www.fhcmoms.org .

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. Their primary goal is to build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those who lack adequate shelter. For more information about habitat international go to http://www.habitat.org. La Puerta Abierta-The Open Door is dedicated primarily to providing medical services to the underserved and uninsured population of Lake County. Its primary service is a free medical clinic which is open five days per week.

A Safe Place is an agency that provides services to victims of domestic violence. It provides shelter, court advocacy, referrals and comprehensive counseling programs for victims of domestic violence - women and children who have been physically, verbally, or emotionally abused. The Lake County Haven provides transitional shelter for women and their children. Its goal is to empower homeless women and children to achieve permanent independent living. They use transitional housing, education, employment, and life-skills training to help people move from homelessness to independence.

United Way is a large agency that provides help in many different ways. For information at the national level see http://national.unitedway.org.
